arg...

i am getting in little to no volume so far this month.

Last month i am on a 1-200 dollar roll and playing lots to get to the point where i can make some real money. Now i am sitting on 840 (mostly due to re-load), playing at 3 times the bi, and i can't make my self get in a set to save my life...much less 3+ hours.

Things have been a bit busy, and all this lurking around my moms office is bothering me. I looked into getting an apartment here in town, but its too much money for me right now. I could afford it with poker money added in, but the last think i want is to move in somewhere, then hit some variance, and have to spend every waking hour playing the 3.40s to make rent.

its frustrating. I look at the nose bleed cash players, HS sng player ect and its not like they are all supppper smart, granted some are tho. They all have put in the effort and gotten good. And here i sit wondering why i am not chasing sne and crushing cake and other sites for gillions of dollars. and i know why, i don't put in the time at all.

i watched a show on labor in china, and they work huge hours for dollars a day. dollars. and here i sit and i make 15+ dollars per set of 11s that take a lil over an hour. arggg take advantage of this blessing!!!!!!!

rant over.

anyways i have decided to get a different sat provider to put in a dish at my moms house in the boonies. I am not sure how reliable it will be, but if its sketchy i will just increase the # of tables and drop down to the 5.50s until i can move into town. I am pretty sure it will be much better than the previous, because this company is much bigger.

from when i have played this month things have been going pretty good. Really enjoying 9 table sets at the 11s. I feel like i know how to play them much better than turbos because my shallow stack game is not that great, but with deeper stacks i feel much more comfortable. So i am going to stick with them for a while, plus the non turbos get more traffic on the smaller sites for some reason, so i need to learn them.

lol pokers

Its funny how if you let it this game will eat you alive.

I lost a standard amount in husngs, and i have been antsy since then.

I feel like my edge in husngs is very very much there, but alas, me no handle the emotional side of them. I think i could deal with it better if i was 4 tabling in sets, but i don't think thats the hottest idea at the 11.25 level atm. Sooo...

I got the bright idea to play some regular speed sngs to make up for a bit of lost time. I felt comfortable taking a shot at the 11s with my size roll fully planning on moving down if things went bad. Anyways you can play a bajillllllion of those things if you has a auto time bank clicker. Turbos you have 15 seconds in the time bank, with these you have a whole minute. Thats neat.

I started off loading 9 and playing in sets and never really got close to using the time bank, and never felt rushed. I honestly feel like i could do 12 right now but i am not going to push it on a 75 bi roll. The non turbos are interesting. I MUUUUCH less reg activity at the 11s where as i am playing with 2+ people at all my tables on the 6.50s. Also while they take longer, i feel like i could be more profitable later on at them than turbos. 30 tabling in sets seems very doable in the regulars, where as i don't see my self doing that in the turbos, + my roi would be much higher due to the structure and less regs.

Its food for thought and we will see. I am not seeing too much reason to play the 16s with all those regs when i could be playing 22s with muuuuch less reg activity. Yes the rake price sucks, but i think i could make up for it by increased number of tables + a higher roi.

vpp wise i am a little behind pace to make 2k. Prolly going to put in one more set today after i go watch a move and that will help a good bit. Nice to spend 70 mins and get 45 vpps.

HUSNGs....

I love them...but i really need to realize that i am not going to win every one.

Wrapping my mind around that fact is tough. I have been playing some not so great players, and some just looking to gamble, yet when i lose i frown. If you are a studddddd husng player your still gonna lose 40 out of 100 of them. Its getting better. I really think i am going to keep pecking away at it, cuz i am doing very well in them. Just need to get use to the name of the game.

On a side note, i haven't played many 9 mans. this has put me wayy behind on my vpp goals. On the one hand i am bummed about it, but i am putting more money into play beings 11.50 vs 6.50, but i still don't like setting a goal and falling short. I may end up loading a bajillion 10+1 non turbos for 4 hours to catch up. Not sure. I need to play a few of them and 6 maxs that way in i will be ready for some things i want to do in the future.

We will see. I am off to play. Update later.

fuuuuuuuun is

4 tabling HUSNGs.

I had said earlier how i thought someone could make some nice cash by 4 tabling husngs...well...

I thought it could be done, even by me, if you had a auto time bank script. Yesterday i got Stars Assistant to work and i gave it a shot at the 6.25s.

It was so much fun. the first set i kind of had some problems. Even tho it seems like you have zero time to think, you really have a lot more than you realize. With a 60 second time bank you have very little reason to rush threw things. By my 3 set i was taking my time, and playing pretty well. One thing that has been tough is finding out who is on the button. Sometimes you look down, see A9s and right click/bet to 2.5bbs when really you are OOP and the guy limped. Just need to work a bit more on that. But it was really cool.

I played only in sets because trying to load a table while 3hu tables are going on a 15" screen wouldn't work so hot. Tried playing with the tables tiled and stacked, and both have good points. Its easier to pick up general reads with them tiled, but all that mouse moving is for the birds. Even with a track ball it gets old. I may give it a shot on my 24" monitor and see how i like it.

Not saying i am done with the 9 mans, but i think i may be playing a good bit more HU so i can get in more volume overall. There are so many times that i have 30 to 45 mins to spare, and if i did get profitable 4 tabling husngs, that would really help get games in.

bored...

Sitting here and someone else is scurrying around my moms office, so i am not playing. Person just popped up and asked me what i do. I really need to stop telling people i play poker and just say "meh, just killing time, playing some games." I in no way think my playing poker is a negative, but it does make some people think your a degen. Also its hard to tell people about the game if they don't play. A few months ago i decided to stop mentioning my poker playing to most people in my life. It is pretty much -ev to do it. When i was playing the 16s before work, people would ask how i did and i would say...ehhh dropped 130 dollars. They are shocked, especially in a work place where most are making 50-60 dollars take home a day.

And i can feel where they are coming from. I find my self thinking that about high stakes players. When i read Raptor's blog i think "wow, why doesn't he just 12 table 5-10 like he mentions from time to time. 1k an hour????? why not???"

Poker is such an interesting game because it can mean so many things to so many people. Some can mass multi table the 16s and be happy as a lark. Others play nose bleed stakes and seem to hate poker. This is where i think it pays a lot to balanced as a player, and very self aware. Find that perfect spot for you. Always work on improving, and such, but there comes a point where you just need to enjoy making some money. Its not like poker is ending next year. You see guys in there 20s going up and down up and down the latter, and once they get to the top, they move to something else.

Its very clear that some people don't play poker for money, but more for a video game. They move up the ranks, and move from sngs, to cash, to mtts, ect ect all just so they can "make more money" but in reality they just get bored/wanna do something else. For real...you move to cash from sngs after you spend years to make it to the 114+s??? How much money do you need???

I am being a bit ranty...but it seems so silly to me when people work so hard and then move on once they reach a level of profitability. I think its because i am not making big money from poker, and when i see people not taking advantage of what they already are good at it bothers me.

ramble rant over

The 6.50s have been pretty good so far. Not up much, but i feel very comfortable 6 tabling them. There are more people i see on all my tables, but they are nothing to be worried about. Plus all the randoms more than make up for it. I'm going to put in a good amount of games this week to get ahead of schedule for the 2k vpp goal. I found that taking a nap during my lunch break makes my afternoon seshs work out great. The feeling of being ahead of pace is so nice, and it affords me ability to slack off if i want too later.

That being said i have only played one HUSNG today :-( But i am really not feeling it. I hate it when i force my self to play when i really don't want to, then i lose.

On another side note, i need to buy a house in town. For a little background, i live in a county with 2500-3kish people, and i live a good 18 mins from town with my parents. There is no internet available except for sat an that has proved a bit sketchy for poker (but i think it had a lot to do with our provider) I am very much a homebody, and it brings up some problems.

For one, i would rather spend my time at home instead of my moms office. Its just weird hanging out here all the time. I put my self in the employs shoes, and it has to be odd seeing the owners kid lurking around on the computer 24-7. I know that and it does feel weird, but what can i do?

two, i could get in twice the volume if i had a house with internet. There is nothing better than waking up, getting some breakfast, tooling around a bit, then hopping back in bead and playing poker for a few hours on the laptop. One reason i don't get in much volume is the uncomfortable set up i have. If i could really get relaxed and not be moving around every hour, i would be much more inclined to play 3+ hours.

three, i would save around 200 dollars in gas if i lived in town.

four, geez kid your 23! GET OUT OF MAMA'S HOUSE!!! I really think i need to move out. Kids are not suppose to spend there whole lives living in their parents house. I feel like my relationships with everyone would improve a good bit if i lived else wear. I get along great with my family, but we are all getting older and its not like it use to be. There is an order when your kids, and now that we are older, everyone thinks their the boss. Which can start to rub you the wrong way.

so anyways i am going to start working very hard in order to build the money/find/buy a house in town. I don't need a big place, even a dump would be fine. Just something for right now that i could live in then sell or add on too later. Must grind!!!

that was ramble filled, but oh well.

July Results/August Goals

July goals.

Make Silver Star while playing the 3.40s.

Got it. Ended up playing 90% 3.40s with some 6.50 9 mans and 6.25 and 11.50 NL HUSNGs

Increase the number of tables i can play
Able to 7 table cont decently.

Learn
I def. knocked the rust of my game. Learned a lot about variance, and how non money goals can help with volume. all in all i am happy with how much i learned. Could of put more time into 2+2 tho.

Won around 60 bucks total due to massive HUSNG heater

August goals

Move up to the 6.50s for good
-I have 784 dollars in the account, so there isn't much of a reason not to take a shot at the 6.50s. I need to clear off my bonus so i can withdraw some in the future, and if i don't want to goof around for months clearing it. The level of play is not a huge jump at all. Plus the rake at the 3.40s is redic. I am dropping the # of tables to 6 and taking it slow.

2k vpps
-Pretty decent amount to shoot for. I think it will be much easier now that i mix the HUSNGs at the end of my seshs. Also 2K vpps = 3000 FPPs!!! <3 building a emergency roll.

Beat the 11.50 NL HUSNGs
-Love hu, and they have been soft so far, but i have been running good. Plan on getting in a decent amount of them to break up the grind of sngs. Also looking to move up to the 23s once i have a 1k roll.

Learn
-def need to get serious about learning. Need to take advantage of 2+2, and reply more to threads. Also need to learn how to keep my HUSNG game out of my stt game. tend to get the FPS at times.

Thats about it. July was interesting. Breaking even in the 3.40s was an eye opener. Also running like...9/1 in HUSNGs is fun. the only reason i have profit is because of that :-) Looking forward to the 6.50s, extra FPPs and clearing off this bonus.

God Bless and gl this month,

stars tilted me...

Well i got all set up to put in some games, but ended up playing about 2 hours.

The reason i quit was because stars has been messing up while i stack as of late. I have it where the table that needs action pops up, then waits until i make an action, then it goes away and is replaced by the next one needing a click. But for some reason for the past few days they have been popping over each other sometimes. Not all the time, but every now and then they do. It hasn't really caused me to miss click much, but tonight i did at least 2 or 3 times.

So i tried cascading the tables...meh to that. I don't see how people do that. Its like the worst of both worlds. Ended up tiling the tables...6 on a 15' laptop. neat. But things went ok. I got down a good bit at the start, but rallied at the end to end up at 706, plus i played/won a HUSNG while i was down to 3 tables and knew it was going to be a while.

But some good came out of it tho...

I love playing HU. I forgot how much fun it is. If you could get some good scrips set up, you could 4 table the 10.50 4 man turbos and make a killing. With a 60 second time bank it would be busy, but doable. i know how i handle strait HU play, and i couldn't do it as my main game. BUT, and here is the but...i think its worth my time to play them a bit for a couple of reasons.

1. I can play them when i get down on tables at the end of my sngs. There is a lot of dead time towards the end of a sesh that could be spend earning instead of goofing around on the net.

2. Playing HU is good for your game overall. Seems like there are few things that benefits you more as a overall player than HU. You get to see so many situations that are tough. You don't have good hands much, and you learn to hand read much better.

3. I really want to get some of my play off stars. even being a supernova and getting the good 15+1 price of the 16s, the skill level of all those regs hurts you. The other sites offer great rakeback/bonus but the volume on 9/10 man sngs is very slow. Bodog is capped at 3 tables, cake has little to no traffic above the 10 dollar level, and 1/2 of it is regular speed sngs. The smaller sites also have worse software that makes multi tabling harder. I tilt more from my misclicks than bad beats by far. One thing they do have is HUSNG games that run. Its simple to see, because you have to wait for 9 other players to get a 10 man to go, but only one for a HUSNG. i know the rakeback and bonus money wouldn't be great if i was playing the 10s, but if i got good enough to play the 20-50 level i could clear off a good chunk and make a decent amount from the games them selfs.

4. Multi tabling 9 mans can get to be a boring grind. Theres no way around it. Once you get comfortable with the play at the lower levels it becomes robotic. Yes its a very easy and comfortable income, but burnout becomes a factor. Once 2+2er was 30 tabling the 16s, ran up his roll playing higher bi, and i don't really know what happened, but he posted how he was burnt out hasn't been playing. If there is one thing that everyone on the "hourly" bandwagon misses it the risk of burnout. And if your not playing, your not making anything. Some steps to reduce that risk would increase your longterm ev greatly.

All that was said to say this...playing a few HUSNGs would be a great break from the sng grind. I know full well that full time HU playing is not for me, but i would enjoy getting in 2k 16s/making platinum star, then supernova and then racking up money on random sites playing HUSNGs.

So i think i am going to start playing a HUSNG on the tail end of all my seshes, but only the 6.50s 2 mans for now. (Oh and another cool thing is that you can table select easssssy in HUSNGS and once you get a nice sharkscope stats the other regs will leave you alone. So you just play the fish :-) Once i get 1k in the roll, i will start playing the 11.50s.

That got a bit long...oh well.
