arg...

i am getting in little to no volume so far this month.

Last month i am on a 1-200 dollar roll and playing lots to get to the point where i can make some real money. Now i am sitting on 840 (mostly due to re-load), playing at 3 times the bi, and i can't make my self get in a set to save my life...much less 3+ hours.

Things have been a bit busy, and all this lurking around my moms office is bothering me. I looked into getting an apartment here in town, but its too much money for me right now. I could afford it with poker money added in, but the last think i want is to move in somewhere, then hit some variance, and have to spend every waking hour playing the 3.40s to make rent.

its frustrating. I look at the nose bleed cash players, HS sng player ect and its not like they are all supppper smart, granted some are tho. They all have put in the effort and gotten good. And here i sit wondering why i am not chasing sne and crushing cake and other sites for gillions of dollars. and i know why, i don't put in the time at all.

i watched a show on labor in china, and they work huge hours for dollars a day. dollars. and here i sit and i make 15+ dollars per set of 11s that take a lil over an hour. arggg take advantage of this blessing!!!!!!!

rant over.

anyways i have decided to get a different sat provider to put in a dish at my moms house in the boonies. I am not sure how reliable it will be, but if its sketchy i will just increase the # of tables and drop down to the 5.50s until i can move into town. I am pretty sure it will be much better than the previous, because this company is much bigger.

from when i have played this month things have been going pretty good. Really enjoying 9 table sets at the 11s. I feel like i know how to play them much better than turbos because my shallow stack game is not that great, but with deeper stacks i feel much more comfortable. So i am going to stick with them for a while, plus the non turbos get more traffic on the smaller sites for some reason, so i need to learn them.

lol pokers

Its funny how if you let it this game will eat you alive.

I lost a standard amount in husngs, and i have been antsy since then.

I feel like my edge in husngs is very very much there, but alas, me no handle the emotional side of them. I think i could deal with it better if i was 4 tabling in sets, but i don't think thats the hottest idea at the 11.25 level atm. Sooo...

I got the bright idea to play some regular speed sngs to make up for a bit of lost time. I felt comfortable taking a shot at the 11s with my size roll fully planning on moving down if things went bad. Anyways you can play a bajillllllion of those things if you has a auto time bank clicker. Turbos you have 15 seconds in the time bank, with these you have a whole minute. Thats neat.

I started off loading 9 and playing in sets and never really got close to using the time bank, and never felt rushed. I honestly feel like i could do 12 right now but i am not going to push it on a 75 bi roll. The non turbos are interesting. I MUUUUCH less reg activity at the 11s where as i am playing with 2+ people at all my tables on the 6.50s. Also while they take longer, i feel like i could be more profitable later on at them than turbos. 30 tabling in sets seems very doable in the regulars, where as i don't see my self doing that in the turbos, + my roi would be much higher due to the structure and less regs.

Its food for thought and we will see. I am not seeing too much reason to play the 16s with all those regs when i could be playing 22s with muuuuch less reg activity. Yes the rake price sucks, but i think i could make up for it by increased number of tables + a higher roi.

vpp wise i am a little behind pace to make 2k. Prolly going to put in one more set today after i go watch a move and that will help a good bit. Nice to spend 70 mins and get 45 vpps.

HUSNGs....

I love them...but i really need to realize that i am not going to win every one.

Wrapping my mind around that fact is tough. I have been playing some not so great players, and some just looking to gamble, yet when i lose i frown. If you are a studddddd husng player your still gonna lose 40 out of 100 of them. Its getting better. I really think i am going to keep pecking away at it, cuz i am doing very well in them. Just need to get use to the name of the game.

On a side note, i haven't played many 9 mans. this has put me wayy behind on my vpp goals. On the one hand i am bummed about it, but i am putting more money into play beings 11.50 vs 6.50, but i still don't like setting a goal and falling short. I may end up loading a bajillion 10+1 non turbos for 4 hours to catch up. Not sure. I need to play a few of them and 6 maxs that way in i will be ready for some things i want to do in the future.

We will see. I am off to play. Update later.

fuuuuuuuun is

4 tabling HUSNGs.

I had said earlier how i thought someone could make some nice cash by 4 tabling husngs...well...

I thought it could be done, even by me, if you had a auto time bank script. Yesterday i got Stars Assistant to work and i gave it a shot at the 6.25s.

It was so much fun. the first set i kind of had some problems. Even tho it seems like you have zero time to think, you really have a lot more than you realize. With a 60 second time bank you have very little reason to rush threw things. By my 3 set i was taking my time, and playing pretty well. One thing that has been tough is finding out who is on the button. Sometimes you look down, see A9s and right click/bet to 2.5bbs when really you are OOP and the guy limped. Just need to work a bit more on that. But it was really cool.

I played only in sets because trying to load a table while 3hu tables are going on a 15" screen wouldn't work so hot. Tried playing with the tables tiled and stacked, and both have good points. Its easier to pick up general reads with them tiled, but all that mouse moving is for the birds. Even with a track ball it gets old. I may give it a shot on my 24" monitor and see how i like it.

Not saying i am done with the 9 mans, but i think i may be playing a good bit more HU so i can get in more volume overall. There are so many times that i have 30 to 45 mins to spare, and if i did get profitable 4 tabling husngs, that would really help get games in.

bored...

Sitting here and someone else is scurrying around my moms office, so i am not playing. Person just popped up and asked me what i do. I really need to stop telling people i play poker and just say "meh, just killing time, playing some games." I in no way think my playing poker is a negative, but it does make some people think your a degen. Also its hard to tell people about the game if they don't play. A few months ago i decided to stop mentioning my poker playing to most people in my life. It is pretty much -ev to do it. When i was playing the 16s before work, people would ask how i did and i would say...ehhh dropped 130 dollars. They are shocked, especially in a work place where most are making 50-60 dollars take home a day.

And i can feel where they are coming from. I find my self thinking that about high stakes players. When i read Raptor's blog i think "wow, why doesn't he just 12 table 5-10 like he mentions from time to time. 1k an hour????? why not???"

Poker is such an interesting game because it can mean so many things to so many people. Some can mass multi table the 16s and be happy as a lark. Others play nose bleed stakes and seem to hate poker. This is where i think it pays a lot to balanced as a player, and very self aware. Find that perfect spot for you. Always work on improving, and such, but there comes a point where you just need to enjoy making some money. Its not like poker is ending next year. You see guys in there 20s going up and down up and down the latter, and once they get to the top, they move to something else.

Its very clear that some people don't play poker for money, but more for a video game. They move up the ranks, and move from sngs, to cash, to mtts, ect ect all just so they can "make more money" but in reality they just get bored/wanna do something else. For real...you move to cash from sngs after you spend years to make it to the 114+s??? How much money do you need???

I am being a bit ranty...but it seems so silly to me when people work so hard and then move on once they reach a level of profitability. I think its because i am not making big money from poker, and when i see people not taking advantage of what they already are good at it bothers me.

ramble rant over

The 6.50s have been pretty good so far. Not up much, but i feel very comfortable 6 tabling them. There are more people i see on all my tables, but they are nothing to be worried about. Plus all the randoms more than make up for it. I'm going to put in a good amount of games this week to get ahead of schedule for the 2k vpp goal. I found that taking a nap during my lunch break makes my afternoon seshs work out great. The feeling of being ahead of pace is so nice, and it affords me ability to slack off if i want too later.

That being said i have only played one HUSNG today :-( But i am really not feeling it. I hate it when i force my self to play when i really don't want to, then i lose.

On another side note, i need to buy a house in town. For a little background, i live in a county with 2500-3kish people, and i live a good 18 mins from town with my parents. There is no internet available except for sat an that has proved a bit sketchy for poker (but i think it had a lot to do with our provider) I am very much a homebody, and it brings up some problems.

For one, i would rather spend my time at home instead of my moms office. Its just weird hanging out here all the time. I put my self in the employs shoes, and it has to be odd seeing the owners kid lurking around on the computer 24-7. I know that and it does feel weird, but what can i do?

two, i could get in twice the volume if i had a house with internet. There is nothing better than waking up, getting some breakfast, tooling around a bit, then hopping back in bead and playing poker for a few hours on the laptop. One reason i don't get in much volume is the uncomfortable set up i have. If i could really get relaxed and not be moving around every hour, i would be much more inclined to play 3+ hours.

three, i would save around 200 dollars in gas if i lived in town.

four, geez kid your 23! GET OUT OF MAMA'S HOUSE!!! I really think i need to move out. Kids are not suppose to spend there whole lives living in their parents house. I feel like my relationships with everyone would improve a good bit if i lived else wear. I get along great with my family, but we are all getting older and its not like it use to be. There is an order when your kids, and now that we are older, everyone thinks their the boss. Which can start to rub you the wrong way.

so anyways i am going to start working very hard in order to build the money/find/buy a house in town. I don't need a big place, even a dump would be fine. Just something for right now that i could live in then sell or add on too later. Must grind!!!

that was ramble filled, but oh well.

July Results/August Goals

July goals.

Make Silver Star while playing the 3.40s.

Got it. Ended up playing 90% 3.40s with some 6.50 9 mans and 6.25 and 11.50 NL HUSNGs

Increase the number of tables i can play
Able to 7 table cont decently.

Learn
I def. knocked the rust of my game. Learned a lot about variance, and how non money goals can help with volume. all in all i am happy with how much i learned. Could of put more time into 2+2 tho.

Won around 60 bucks total due to massive HUSNG heater

August goals

Move up to the 6.50s for good
-I have 784 dollars in the account, so there isn't much of a reason not to take a shot at the 6.50s. I need to clear off my bonus so i can withdraw some in the future, and if i don't want to goof around for months clearing it. The level of play is not a huge jump at all. Plus the rake at the 3.40s is redic. I am dropping the # of tables to 6 and taking it slow.

2k vpps
-Pretty decent amount to shoot for. I think it will be much easier now that i mix the HUSNGs at the end of my seshs. Also 2K vpps = 3000 FPPs!!! <3 building a emergency roll.

Beat the 11.50 NL HUSNGs
-Love hu, and they have been soft so far, but i have been running good. Plan on getting in a decent amount of them to break up the grind of sngs. Also looking to move up to the 23s once i have a 1k roll.

Learn
-def need to get serious about learning. Need to take advantage of 2+2, and reply more to threads. Also need to learn how to keep my HUSNG game out of my stt game. tend to get the FPS at times.

Thats about it. July was interesting. Breaking even in the 3.40s was an eye opener. Also running like...9/1 in HUSNGs is fun. the only reason i have profit is because of that :-) Looking forward to the 6.50s, extra FPPs and clearing off this bonus.

stars tilted me...

Well i got all set up to put in some games, but ended up playing about 2 hours.

The reason i quit was because stars has been messing up while i stack as of late. I have it where the table that needs action pops up, then waits until i make an action, then it goes away and is replaced by the next one needing a click. But for some reason for the past few days they have been popping over each other sometimes. Not all the time, but every now and then they do. It hasn't really caused me to miss click much, but tonight i did at least 2 or 3 times.

So i tried cascading the tables...meh to that. I don't see how people do that. Its like the worst of both worlds. Ended up tiling the tables...6 on a 15' laptop. neat. But things went ok. I got down a good bit at the start, but rallied at the end to end up at 706, plus i played/won a HUSNG while i was down to 3 tables and knew it was going to be a while.

But some good came out of it tho...

I love playing HU. I forgot how much fun it is. If you could get some good scrips set up, you could 4 table the 10.50 4 man turbos and make a killing. With a 60 second time bank it would be busy, but doable. i know how i handle strait HU play, and i couldn't do it as my main game. BUT, and here is the but...i think its worth my time to play them a bit for a couple of reasons.

1. I can play them when i get down on tables at the end of my sngs. There is a lot of dead time towards the end of a sesh that could be spend earning instead of goofing around on the net.

2. Playing HU is good for your game overall. Seems like there are few things that benefits you more as a overall player than HU. You get to see so many situations that are tough. You don't have good hands much, and you learn to hand read much better.

3. I really want to get some of my play off stars. even being a supernova and getting the good 15+1 price of the 16s, the skill level of all those regs hurts you. The other sites offer great rakeback/bonus but the volume on 9/10 man sngs is very slow. Bodog is capped at 3 tables, cake has little to no traffic above the 10 dollar level, and 1/2 of it is regular speed sngs. The smaller sites also have worse software that makes multi tabling harder. I tilt more from my misclicks than bad beats by far. One thing they do have is HUSNG games that run. Its simple to see, because you have to wait for 9 other players to get a 10 man to go, but only one for a HUSNG. i know the rakeback and bonus money wouldn't be great if i was playing the 10s, but if i got good enough to play the 20-50 level i could clear off a good chunk and make a decent amount from the games them selfs.

4. Multi tabling 9 mans can get to be a boring grind. Theres no way around it. Once you get comfortable with the play at the lower levels it becomes robotic. Yes its a very easy and comfortable income, but burnout becomes a factor. Once 2+2er was 30 tabling the 16s, ran up his roll playing higher bi, and i don't really know what happened, but he posted how he was burnt out hasn't been playing. If there is one thing that everyone on the "hourly" bandwagon misses it the risk of burnout. And if your not playing, your not making anything. Some steps to reduce that risk would increase your longterm ev greatly.

All that was said to say this...playing a few HUSNGs would be a great break from the sng grind. I know full well that full time HU playing is not for me, but i would enjoy getting in 2k 16s/making platinum star, then supernova and then racking up money on random sites playing HUSNGs.

So i think i am going to start playing a HUSNG on the tail end of all my seshes, but only the 6.50s 2 mans for now. (Oh and another cool thing is that you can table select easssssy in HUSNGS and once you get a nice sharkscope stats the other regs will leave you alone. So you just play the fish :-) Once i get 1k in the roll, i will start playing the 11.50s.

That got a bit long...oh well.

update

Yesterday i got of work, took a nap, then hit the tables. Playing 7 tables cont. After my last set where i won every hand i was feeling good. Mehhhh. I got creamed. In all honesty i had been playing for 2 1/2 hours and could not remember getting ITM. I know i must of got a 3rd or two in there sometime, but i was getting killed. I checked my account and i was down to 650. 650! A 80 dollar loss in a few hours at the 3.40s??? but i gots lots of vpps :-)

well things went better on my last few sngs and i managed to cut the losses a by 25 bucks or so and ended around 675.

Played one set of 7 today and shipped just about everyone and now i am sitting on 730 ish dollars.

I know i say this every blog but its crazy how this is happening. There are only 5 days left in the month and i am up 15 dollars after playing more than i have ever before. Variance is a monster. But i am feeling great about it tho. So happy that i am handling it well, its confusing, but not making me tilt.

i am really excited about staying on pace for silverstar. Also increasing the tables i can play gets me excited about next month and what i can do. I am not sure if i am going to step up to the 6.50s in august. I am doing well emotionally now, but if i were to move up/lose or break even i think it would get to me. I am going to play it safe and keep grinding the 3.40s till i put up some money from them. Prolly move up when i get to 1k in the roll.

Also another thing that is bringing out my natural nittyness is that some things are happening in my "life" money that will affect my ability to re-load. Currently i have plenty to re-load, re-load, re-load, re-load ect, but i am selling my house and paying off some dept. This is great life wise, but i am not going to have the access money in the bank. So this means if i do go busto i will have to wait a few months to re-load, or have to work some crapper side job to get a couple hundred bucks. So i am taking it slow for sure now. I can't risk going bust. Even if i stick to the 3.40s for a couple of months i will be fine. I am in no rush to move up. Actually if i was able to pull in 500 or so dollars per month from the 3.40s for a few months it would really help my "life" money. But i don't know. I think i will be costing my self too much by not moving up. The skill level isn't that much of a leap, and i will have a 150bi roll.

Its going to be so nice to play, improve, increase my tables while playing the 6.50s and make some nice money.

anyways, i am going to go eat, then put in a sesh later on tonight. Plan on getting at least 30 games in. Really thinking about putting in 4+ hours and getting ahead on the vpps. The closer i get to the end of the month the more i want to lock it up. We will see tho.

ship ship

so i ended up grabbing a coffee and putting in a sesh. I was planning on 5 tabling and doing some goofing around on the internet/uploading some stuff on itunes. soon realizing, as usual, that its either poker or the other stuff...not a mix. So i stopped goofing around and loaded up from 5-7 and played a couple of hours.

btw i am 7 tabling now cont. and its working out great.

Ended up hitting some + variance and shipping McShippingstoning 56.20$. WHEEEEEEEE!!!!! Also have 1111 vpps. Pretty good sesh for just starting out as piddling around.

God Bless,
Takeover_inc

re-loaded

Well yesterday i re-loaded the stars account. Put 600 on to get the full 240 dollar bonus. So thats good. Free 240 just for playing??? I'll take it. I think i have to clear 4800 vpps before the first of the year. Shouldn't be that big of a deal. so thats pretty cool.

As far as volume goes i am falling behind. I was a in a terrible mood for 2 days and only played one set. Instantly when i played that set i realized i shouldn't be playing because i was not mentally ready to play poker. I am happy tho, i use to blow tons of money due to tilt. Its sad to know how much money i could of made had i stuck to playing 3-6 or even .10-25nl and moved up the ranks. Back in 04 when the games were so so soft. But i tilted off roll after roll. Oh well.

As far as how i am doing money wise things are down still. I think with this amount of volume i am seeing the actual effects that variance has on this game. Even with super soft 3.40s i breaking even over a decent sample. I know my game is good enough to beat the 3.40s but i am just having a hard time. It seems as if i am bubbling and getting a ton of 3rd place finishes. But when you think about it, thats going to happen. Say i get to 3 handed 40% of the time, the blinds are high, and its pretty much a crap shoot with some skill left, but not much. its a prime place for some variance to kick you in the head. Either way its not bothering me that much, i wish i was doing better, but meh its ok. I think its a good thing actually because i didn't think i could do this poorly. Glad its happening here and not when i move up.

It seems more and more evident that dealing with variance is one, if not the greatest, area to get under control if your going to be successful. Not mincing words, this game is brutal. Its sick how something can fool you into thinking you are some jedi master, run up a short roll, then get soul stomped. Its very cruel. You watch 2+2 and it seems every few months there is someone that goes from meh player to knocking down a few 2+k months, then goes ape and disappears. I really think winning is just as much of a factor in the over all recipe for disaster as the losing. One player comes to mind. He had like a 1k month, then a 4k month, then he was down 750 over the 15 days and he posted that he was done. And i can see why. Going from winning 1 grand every 7 days to losing close to it over 15 days is insane.

But its totally normal in this game. crazy hu?

anyways this stretch has made me re-think some things. I am now never going to goof around under 100 BI. The more i play i am thinking 150 would be best for me personally. Having 700 (now 670ish) to play the 3.40s is great. I had a rough sesh and it didn't worry me at all because i 1) was racking up vpps from busting so much, and 2) i had the roll to take it.

I hope for my 1000th post on 2+2 i could write on variance and dealing with it. I think it is greatly underestimated. Everyone seems to be so focused on their hourly, but they don't realize your not making money if you taking a break from all the stress, or like the guy mentioned above, he's not making ANY money because he is done. (guy may still be playing i dunno, but i don't see him posting much) How many people have shot up to the top only to tumble down? There hourly may of been 300+ but now they are making POO and The Venetian/sippin and the likes will prolly end up making more money from poker lifetime than they will.

that got long...

stars roll is 674.81 with 1077vpps for the month.

may not play today but plan on putting in monster seshs friday and saturday to make up for it. 50 games tomorrow and 75 for saturday

traying on pace + bonus!

Well things are still going good in the volume department. Usually when i make goals like this i am down and out within the week, but things are different this time. I currently have 969 vpps for the month. That means i need to put in 25ish sngs per day until the end of the month. Going to put in a few extra per day that way i for sure won't run unto any bumps towards the end of the month.

While my volume for this month has been at an all time high, my $ won is stuck in neutral. I know its just some standard variance, but meh. I play these 3.40s and see how terrible the players on them are and i think i should be winning each one and having a 500+ dollar roll by now. But what i don't often remember is that for each one i play i am only making around 40 cents. But its all fine. I am really pleased with how i am dealing with it. I am very excited about my play because i am reaching my big goal for the month, and not caring much about the lack of $ won. Its going to turn around soon enough.

Also to add to the fun in the sun, Pokerstars is giving a re-load bonus of up to 240 dollars! Beings i am putting in the volume, i might as well get some free money. Plan on putting 600 into my account today in order to get the full bonus. I am still going to be playing the 3.40s until the end of the month. Just because i have the roll doesn't mean i am ready for the 6.50s. If things go well and i win some extra money + make silverstar i may move up to the 6.50s after the first of the month. Really depends on how things are going then. I am not in any rush to move up at all, slow and steady will win the race for me. Being a silverstar will really nudge me towards moving up tho. Making the extra vpps may not end up being much money overall, but it helps knowing i am building my insurance policy faster while playing at the higher level.

Also i am making it a point on my 10 and 3 o'clock breaks at work to find 2 6.50 or 3.40 threads on 2+2, read threw them, and reply. I love 2+2 and all it has done for my game, and i need to start contributing more. Also it will greatly benefit my game as well.

Thats about it for now. Will put in a sesh tonight and play around 30 games.

Good sesh volume wise

Yesterday i got a pretty decent amount of games in. Played a set and then ended up playing 3 hours cont from 12-3am. Racked in a ton of games beings i made a lot of OTM and 3rd place finishes. Meh, oh well. I felt like i played pretty good, just hit some variance.

Today ended up playing about 2 hours so far and ran hot. Hoping to play 3+ hours later that way i can get a bit ahead of schedule. I want to start mixing some 6 max 3.25s while i play. its a plus beings the rake is 15c cheaper, but they only give you one vpp per game. I really don't want to play them and miss on the extra vpp per game until i am ahead enough on my monthly vpp goal. Last thing i want is to come up short late in the month because i was goofing around, and end up having to play monster seshs late.

Anyways thats about it. Currently have 130.46 in the stars account and 903vpps for the month.

browsing the net...

is wrecking my game.

i have always had this problem, but usually i have 44" of total monitor space and it wasn't that big of a deal. Now that i am playing on a 15.4 in laptop its no bueno.

Anyways i have played a decent amount of games and am down...largely from goofing around on the internet while i should of been paying full attention to the game. Currently i have 803 vpps for the month. Right on schedule so long as i play 25 games today. If not its not that huge of a deal. It seems like they are going to up your VIP level for the last week of the 2X promotion, so i would like to have incentive to put in lots of volume when that rolls around.

As for how much money i have in the account 153.46. I know its not that huge of a deal, but it bothers me knowing it prolly wasn't totally variance, but bad playing due to being distracted. Oh well. I am going to load up my itunes on this computer that way i can just let it play instead of looking around on myspace or youtube for stuff.

So far as plans go, i am looking to move up to the 6.50s once i get 650 in my account. I know its kind of nitty, but oh well. Its what works for me. Also i want to get sngwiz fairly soon. I think i may spend my first X amount of dollars over 340 in the account on buying that. Having wiz would let me to do some studying on my game while i was at home. Plus i think i need to learn a good bit before i move to the 6.50s. They are not mega hard, but i prolly have some obv leaks that could be taken care of with a little effort.

anyways i was thinking about my goals as far as poker and the rest of the year and decided to post them.

1. Learn a ton about sngs/what it takes for me to beat them
2. Learn to better deal with the downswings that derail me
3. Build roll and move from the 3.40s to 6.50s to the 16s with 100bi management
4. Increase the number of tables to where i can play 2000 16s per month easily and make platinum star/supernova next year.
5. Enjoy the process and reap the benefits.

I have been thinking a lot about stars and such, and i think i only want to play the 16s on there enough to make platinum star. I think the 16s will be great and all, but i want to play enough to get to supernova, rack in the 28 or whatever percent rake back, then get the rest of the volume on other sites. I think other sites have a lot to offer beings everyone is having to do more to attract and keep players. The only negative is that the software is usually bad, but w/e. I can deal with that if i am clearing off bonuses left and right and getting monster rakeback on top of it.

ok done rambling. Update in a few days

update

The double VPP week went pretty good. I managed to take advantage of it, and made a good chunk of the vpps i needed to make. Still i could of done much better, but oh well. As of right now i have 623 VPPs for the month. Pretty happy with that. I should be able coast to the goal, and if i put in a monster sesh one Saturday it will be monies in the bank.

What was kind of discouraging was that i was breaking even for the majority of the time during the double VPP promotion. I was getting to think that my game was way off or something. Then i remembered that i crushed the 3.40s previously when i was making some of the worst shoves late. Running the trial SNGWiz showed that i was an ICM moron and now my game is much better (still not super tho). So thinking that i figured it was just time before i ran a lil hot. Sure enough it hit. It was yesterday, or maybe Sunday, but it seemed like i won half my sngs. In one set of 7 i won 4!

So i am sitting on 186.46 dollars in the stars account. I am really excited because my risk of ruin is getting less and less. I know the 3.40s are soft as a puppies tummy, but i still could go busto on a 30 bi roll. But its not going to happen now that i have 50+ bi. Also i am keeping all my FPPs as an insurance policy.
i am a nit, so the idea of having a "spare roll" in fpps sounds like a good idea. Prolly end up not spending any of them until i have 30+ thousand that way if worst came to worst i could play 6 or so 5400s and have a 6.50 roll to start with.

Anyways, i am currently 6 tabling while continuous, and 7 tabling in sets. Things are going well, and i am not timing out or anything. Prolly could up the number of tables to 7 cont. and 8 in sets, but i don't want to until my BR is a little bigger. Once i get to 60-70 BI i will be comfortable enough to start getting a bit aggressive with the tables.

I am trying to decide if i want to try the 6.50s on a 50 BI roll, or not. The skill level isn't that huge of a jump, but the rake break is. 50c on 6 dollars is a lot different from 40c on 3 dollars. Anyways if i continue to feel good about my game/study lots i may take a shot at them once i get to 325 and see how it goes. I say that, but i am a nit, so i will prolly end up having 400 minimum to try to move up.

So thats the update.

double vpps?

Well i am a blessed kid. Onces i decide to make a run at one of the VIP levels stars pops the double vpp promotion. yusss

So that means i can take a huge chunk out of my games played if i get to work this week while the promotion is running. So far i have 212 VPPs for the month. WHEE. I am excited because i am terrible about setting volume goals and falling way short. I think the reason i always did was i was trying to make X dollars in a month. Don't get me wrong i like money, but its not much of a motivator. Like i have stated before money doesn't mean a whole lot to me, so its only natural that it doesn't force me to put in volume. The VPP levels do. Its sorta like a video game where you can reach the next level.

Anyways i don't think i am even up that much despite playing 50 games. Oh well, just excited for the extra boost in vpps.

Going to play a good bit tonight, so i will try to update later.

End of month results/July Goals

So June started off with me wanting to become the greatest and only real HORSE HUSNG reg in the world.

That run ended, and i think its for the better. A good bit of self examination showed what i needed to be doing. SNGs hear i go!!!

Started playing the 3.40s on a short roll, ended up have nothing but 1200ish FPPs left, ran hot in 210 two table sats to the hundred grand and then ran hot in the 3.40s to end up winning 63 dollars total, not to mention the sats, so now my stars roll is at 113.86 American Dollars and Cents.

won 2 bucks in HUSNGs too.

-------------
July goals.

Make Silver Star while playing the 3.40s.
-this is a hard, but attainable goal. If i make it while playing at a 15% roi i will make around 340 dollars. Also i will end up with 1500 FPPs, thats seven 210 FPP sats to the hundred grand that i will get to play. Making silver star this month will mean that in August i could prolly make 3000 fpps :-)

Increase the number of tables i can play
-Not really shooting for X amount of tables, just what i can handle. I currently am 6 tabling in sets and continuous, so if i could make it to 7 or 8 i would be really happy.

Learn
-read threads on 2+2. I take for granted how much you can absorb just by reading threw treads, and it doesn't cost you ANYTHING! I also want to post more hands, and contribute more.

Thats about it. To play 750 i will have to play 24 sngs a day. I won't be playing on Sundays, so that pushes the number up even higher. I can get a good jump on the game over the long weekend for the 4th. There isn't much going on anyways, so i will knock out 200-300 in between Thursday and Saturday. That will keep me from having to play catch up later on in the month, and for me its much easier to keep going once i am ahead than to put in mega hours late in the month.

Best of luck to everyone else, and God Bless,

117 games played

just Sharkscoped my self for the month and after playing 117 games i am up 83 dollars and running at 16% ROI.

Pretty happy with that. When i first switched to sngs i went bit of a downer at the 3.40s, but now things are evening out. So thankful i didn't have to re load. Something about re loading that i don't like, and also its a lot of fun building a roll.

anyways i am 6 tabling now and things are going good. Tomorrow i am going to put a AHK script on this computer. With that i should be able to start 7 tabling which will help me gain FPPs a bit faster. Also i am going to try to make Silver Star next month, and being able to 7 table will really help me get there. At the 3.40s i will have to play 750 sngs to make it, so thats a pretty good chunk compared to my usual volume.

I think a key to my success on building a roll/winning at sngs is going to be the VIP program. Naturally i am a nit when it comes to losing, so the extra money made by the FPPs will offset downswings. Also i am in a pretty bad spot mentally to make money playing poker. Downswings bother me a lot, and winning doesn't really give me that much joy. I have won 500-1k pots in live cash games and use to play 50-200 dollar HUSNGs and stts 8-16 limit and 2-4 nl (all under crap BR managment), so the winning of money rush is gone. But i really enjoy the idea of moving my way up the VIP ladder. Sort of like a video game. So hopefully with the VIP program and the actual money won i will stay motivated to keep playing, and learning.

Anyways thats enough rambling for now. Plan on playing a good bit tomorrow, so i will give an update, along with my monthly results, and July Goals.

God Bless you guys,

Got tired

after i ate and got in a workout i loaded up some more games, but ended up just playing a set. I was tired, and on this short of a roll i really don't need to be goofing around much.

So thats about it. I spent Saturday going out to eat and watching a movie with my Mom, then Sunday was Church/Fathers day. So no games since Friday. I am not really feeling like playing today due to some life issues that popped up, but hopefully i can get in a set or two tomorrow. I think i am going to start loading 6 tables when i start instead of 5. I am having no trouble following the action at 5 unless i go on a sick heater and get to the bubble and further in 4 of the 5.

Regardless i need to be fairly aggressive with increasing tables. Once i get my roll big enough to play the 6.50s i really would like to have a decent $ per set average. I know everyone talks about their "Hourly" but i am going to be playing more sets that i am anything else, so it will be more motivating to know i am making 15+ dollars per set. Granted i am not going to go overboard with it and blow a hole in my ROI, but i am sure i have a 20+% roi at the 3.40s. Making it drop down to 10-15 a little bit until i learn and get use to playing more tables isn't that big of a deal to me. I would much rather learn and take the roi hit at the 3.40s then at the 16s like i have before.

so best of luck to all y'all and God Bless

longest sesh a while...

I loaded up 5 and drained the account down to pennies, ended up winning 2, and a second in one i think...

So after that i had enough to run continuous, so around 6:30 i started loaded and just ended. 3 hours strait isn't much to some, but online stts for 3 hours is a lot for my lazy body. Finished up with 70 dollars in the account. Ran pretty hot for sure. I tried 6 tabling cont. but it was going a bit fast and i am a bit tired. So dropped it down to 5 and things went great.

according to sharkscope i played 24 games with 59 dollars in profit, so thats a bit off. I figure i played 30 ish counting the first set of 5. either way things went well and i am happy about that.

Going to go workout and get some food, then i will be back at it later on tonight. Don't think i am going to get 100, but 50+ games and get the roll over a hundo would be neet.

friday friday

Friday is here and i gots a plan.

I am going to be spending tomorrow with my mom most of the day, so i want to get in some volume tonight. Friday evenings and Saturday are really the only times i can get in a lot of games :-( and i am going to be frowning even more if i end up playing 0 games tomorrow.

so...i am going to atempt to play 100 sngs today. This is massive volume for me, considering most months i never put in 100 sngs. I am going to have to learn to put in longer hours when i can due to my scedule. My big goal is to be able to 30 table in sets that way i could possibly get in 60-90 games during the week days. Otherwise there isn't much of a chance in me ever putting down 3k+ sngs per month.

So anyways i am going to give it a go. Running up my 16 dollars today is going to be gooooood goooood. NO RE-LOADO HERE

meh

after going otm in 10 strait 3.40s my account was at 16c. So i found these 210fpp 2 table turbo sats and played some of them. Ran hot, winning seats in 2 out of 4 or so.

Anyways i think i have around 16 dollars between actual money and t dollars. So have one more set of 5 in me. If i do busto the account i will re load to 300 and proceeded to wreck the 3.40s while increasing the number of tables i can play. right now i 5-6 table in sets easily, so i think i am going to jump it to 7 soon.

having fun with stts

well since my last blog i have played around 25ish stts and its been going good. I am prolly up 5-10 dollars.

Like i said its been good. I have been stacking my tables and doing my best not to look at results of all ins ect. I think that alone will help out with dealing with the ups and downs of poker. when i got to thinking about why i was looking at the results it brought a tiny "ahh" moment. I know all i can do is make the best decisions i can, but yet i still look. and it just gives me that little rush of winning or the bigger one of losing. All in all its a leak poker, and happiness ev and am going to do all i can to plug it.

For some reason i always liked playing 3.40s. even when i played the 16s i would sometimes load up a bunch of 3.40s and have fun killing 'em. This def. shows a trait i have as a person. Whether its video games, gambling games, or work, i enjoy a challenge, but not so hard that i end up getting creamed. When i am at work i love doing small task over and over. I get to "win" and win a lot. knowing this i think i need to tailor my poker playing to how i am. As boring at they sometimes can be, multi tabling low stakes stts is prolly the best bet for me.

so anyways i am running on stars with a 13 ish BI roll for the 3.40s and hope to run it up. If i go busto i will re-load 300 and play the 3.40s. Then move up to the 6.50s once i get the hang of stts again, and get the roll over 100 bi for them.

off to the tables...............

God Bless,
Takeover_inc

variance...

my number one leak by far is handling variance.

I am getting to think that i can't handle the mental side of HU play. Its not the money at all, just the way you get involved in HU. I could win 10 in a row, then lose 2 and i think i am the worst player on earth...and this is just at the 5 dollar level. I can't think of how i would feel if i was playing the 50s.

so anyways i think i am going to have to go back to 9 mans for my main game. I am pretty sure i can beat the 6.50 level right now, but my br is too small. Really i could just start playing them with the "rolled or busto" method, then reload if i go bust, but i don't think thats the best idea given my current losing at hu. So i will prolly just hit up the 2.25s on ftp or the 3.40s on stars. give them a run while i study up on my horse game.

anyways i hope to play the majority of the day so i will try to update tonight with how things are going.

God bless,

New Plan

I haven't blogged on ages and there has been some reasons. I haven't had the time to play much ever since the internet went mega busto at the house. So that limits me to playing 1) after work 2) before work from 6am-7:45am. I can't play after work because i am a donk when i get tired. and getting up at 5 to drive into town is not that bad, but i don't think the games that i play will be running at that time...and gas would prolly cost more than i could make at this point in time.

So i try to get in some games when i can.

But i think we are getting the internet back out at the house. Apparently Hugues net offers satellite internet in my area so whee maybe being able to play more.

------------------

So for a bit of an update, and intro beings i plan on posting a link on 2+2. I really enjoy 2+2 but i don't contribute much, and maybe some 2+2ers will enjoy my ramblings. Also as is standard for micro players, i plan on playing bajillion dollar stakes and show my results/movement up in stakes.

So i'm Takeover_inc on 2+2 and FTP and eusdemanyob on stars. I currently have 131.70 on FTP and 50.96 on stars. For the majority of the time i play HORSE HUSNGs on FTP. I am at the 5.25 dollar level and hope to move up to the 10.25s when i have 20 bi.

I realize that this is a bit aggressive, but i have the ability to re load if i go busto. Actually i prolly should re load so i could play the 10.25s but i am a nit.

Why HORSE HU sngs?
I love heads up. i also love playing all the games. I tend to get bored with just one game so what i use to do was hop around a lot. That made me ok at lots of games and not very profitable at any game. So the horse husngs fit me pretty well. I also like that its fixed limit and 2/5 are split pot. This helps the variance a bit. Also husngs are pretty low variance anyways so that helps me out.

oh...i am variance wuss.

SO i aspire to move up the levels and increase my BR along the way. After the 10.25s i am going to go up to 30+ BI for each level and once i hit the 50+ dollar sngs i will prolly go higher. Once i get the roll and my skill level right i would love to just play the highest stakes hu horse sngs available (2k on FTP and 1k on stars i think)

So thats the story and thats the plan. I will try to update this as much as i can.

God bless,
Takeover_inc

ps, want a good laugh...look at my previous post. i had no clue.
